How is cut protection measured?

Work gloves designed to offer any level of protection, by law, must be tested to EN388 which is a globally recognised standard. The test is broken down into four elements and the combined score represents the overall protective value of the glove. In 2016, EN388 was upgraded to test more rigorously for cut with the addition of the TDM test which more accurately simulates the hazards of an industrial workplace. Industry now recognises the test as EN388:2016.

CT1007 | Medium Cut Protection | Cut Level B

CT1007NF (Nitrile Foam Palm Coated)
This medium cut protection glove scores ‘B’ in the TDM test. It has a lightweight, 13 gauge cut fibre shell with Nitrile Foam palm coating. The textured finish of the coating provides good grip and the foam effect will absorb a small degree of shock to protect the hand. It’s comfortable, easy to wear and offers a basic solution for general handling tasks where an element of cut protection is needed.

CT1007PU (Polyurethane Palm Coated)
This glove has a PU coating on the same shell as above. The PU coating allows for high levels of dexterity, providing a ‘second skin’ effect.

Cut level B protection for construction work

CT1052PU | High Cut Protection | Cut Level D

This glove represents a good balance between cut protection and dexterity. At level D on the scale, it’s classed as high protection which is due to its 13-gauge cut fibre shell. The PU coating is supple and allows for great hand agility and powerful grip. It offers a cost-effective solution where a robust and durable glove is needed.

CT1065ST – Extreme Cut Protection | Cut Level F

A featherweight glove, able to offer extreme cut protection right up at level F on the scale. This remarkable performance is due to a Tungsten fibre incorporated into the shell. It also has a revolutionary new multi-compound PURATEC coating for high dexterity, flexibility and movement.

This new polymer coating allows for touch-screen capabilities so you can operate tech and electronic equipment without having to remove the glove. In addition, it’s DMF and silicon free to avoid any discomfort when in daily contact with the skin.

Aura | Extreme Cut Protection with Leather Reinforcement| Cut Level F

Aura is a tough glove yet it still delivers excellent dexterity and grip. At level F on the scale, it carries the highest score for cut protection and it gets top marks across the board for Abrasion, Tear and puncture too. It has a leather palm for superior wet and dry grip and ballistic reinforcement for the critical wear area between thumb and forefinger. Protection is extended up the wrist with an extra-long elasticated cuff providing a comfortable and snug fit.

Designed for protection and dexterity, we've left the very tips of the fingers free from leather so you can use your fingertips to grip and manipulate small components more easily.

Aura-FF is available with fully leather covered fingertips and Aura-P leaves the fingers free from leather with just leather palm remaining.
