We Are A Carbon Neutral Business.

Updated 14th November 2023

We are a Carbon Neutral business

We are proud to announce that MCR Safety Europe has achieved Carbon Neutral status for 2023 for the 2nd year running, as certified by Carbon Neutral Britain, a leading and independent organisation in the field of carbon neutrality.

This certification means that we have measured and reduced our carbon footprint across our entire operation, following the ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol Emissions Standard guidelines. We have also offset our remaining emissions by investing in verified carbon offsetting projects around the world, through the Verra-Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard – Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) or the United Nations – Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes.

These projects not only help to combat climate change, but also contribute to social and environmental benefits in the communities where they are located. They support education, employment, clean water and biodiversity conservation.

Our carbon offsetting portfolio is managed by the Climate Fund™, which selects high-quality projects that align with our values and vision.

We are carbon neurtral organisation for 2023
Step 1 - Calculating our Carbon Footprint

We needed a starting point so a full audit was carried out in line with ISO 14064 and GHG Emissions Protocol Accounting Standard. This clearly identified what our carbon emissions were for 2022 focusing on three different energy uses:
  • Direct Emissions
  • Energy Indirect
  • Other Indirect
We received an Environmental Emissions Report which defines our ‘Carbon Footprint’. From here we can identify, manage and set targets to reduce our emissions.

Step 2 - Offsetting

This is equalizing or balancing so the emissions we were responsible for were counterbalanced by actions that help the planet, for example, planting trees. There are many different ways to offset emissions and we have offset ours through the Climate Fund™ Portfolio of verified carbon offsetting projects around the world.

Step 3 – Certification

Now these first two steps are completed, we are fully certified as a Carbon Neutral Business but that’s not where the story ends.

Continuing the process

Year on year we pledge to reduce our Carbon Footprint yet further. We’re doing this by continually challenging our processes and educating our team.

For full transparency we’ll publish our Carbon Footprint annually so all our stakeholders can see our progress. Each year the three steps will be repeated. We are doing this due to a genuine desire to be more environmentally friendly both locally and globally. It gives us a great sense of pride to be taking this positive action.
