EN ISO 21420 | General requirements and test methods | Work Gloves
EN ISO 21420:2020 is the new revision for EN420. The standard is designed to
ensure the materials used in the works gloves themselves do not cause harm to
the wear and do not obstruct the protective properties to the wearer.
The required tests for EN ISO 21420 include chemical innocuousness of the materials used in the glove (pH value, Chromium VI, Azo dyes, PAHs nickel release and DMFa). In addition to the sizing requirements, how you put on and take off (donning and doffing) the glove is a design consideration which is now a key aspect to this updated standard.
In simple terms EN ISO 21420 provides the base line requirements ensure the gloves are manufactured to specific sizing parameters, doesn’t contain high levels of chemicals which will harm the wear or the environment and the correct information is placed on the glove and within the packaging.
